The Humans of South Bend project features residents of South Bend, Indiana. This project hopes to tell the stories of residents' experiences, transitions, and connections to their neighborhood.
On the History page, the What's in a Name? project features the people behind names of streets and landmarks in the Southeast Neighborhood. It was researched by Dianne Waweru, who is studying environmental engineering at Columbia University. This page also features historical maps and photos from South Bend.
Also on the History page, the "Historical Maps and Photos of South Bend" were collated by IU South Bend ANTH-A314/SOC-S268 Qualitative Research Methods class, Fall 2009.
In the spirit of the well-known "Humans of New York" blog started by Brandon Stanton, we hope provide a platform for authentic and diverse voices of neighborhoods to be heard. As Bowman Creek Educational Ecosystem (BCe2) interns, this project aligns with the BCe2 Sustainable Placemaking vertical as a way to identify community needs and help create a greater sense of community.
